Civil Designer

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a progressive local government authority in Perth’s eastern suburbs, for an experienced Civil Designer to join their Engineering/Infrastructure team
About the Role
Working within a collaborative engineering team, you will produce civil design drawings, documentation and technical specifications for a diverse program of municipal infrastructure projects. Your day-to-day will include:
- Preparing civil engineering drawings and design documentation for roads, drainage, earthworks and associated infrastructure
- Developing concept and detailed designs in CAD, in line with Australian Standards and local authority requirements
- Supporting the delivery of capital works projects from design through to construction
- Liaising with internal teams
- Assisting with the preparation of tender and contract documentation
- Reviewing and checking drawings against design standards and specifications
- Contributing to asset management and as-constructed documentation
About You
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Drafting or a related discipline (degree qualifications well regarded)
- 2–3+ years’ demonstrated experience in civil design and drafting
- Proficiency in 3D models using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, OpenRoads Designer, and Civil 3D
- Experience producing road, drainage and subdivision infrastructure drawings with exposure to MRWA standards
- Ability to read, interpret and produce construction drawings and technical specifications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in design documentation
- Good written and verbal communication skills for engaging with engineers, contractors and the public
- Well organised, self-motivated and able to juggle multiple projects to deadline
Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, WA design guidelines and local authority requirements will be advantageous.
Highly Regarded
- Previous experience within a WA local government authority, including familiarity with council processes and asset management systems
- Knowledge of Main Roads WA (MRWA) design standards, Road Design Guidelines and drawing conventions
- Experience with project management or capital works delivery
